Be active in the Missouri Fox Trotter Horse Breeding Youth Association (MFTHBYA) and make a difference! |
The Youth Committee is working with the Trail Ride Committee to attend meetings and write letters to keep our trails open for access by horseback here in Missouri.
Affiliate youth can make the same difference for their own areas! We are asking that the youth in all affiliates work to do the same. It is harder to say no to the future when the eyes of the future are staring you in the face asking WHY they may not be able to ride on the trails they have enjoyed as youth and their parents have enjoyed. Get involved in our future!
Our Missouri Youth will be making saddle drapes to use to ride in parades all over the state that will identify them as youth in the MFTHBYA. (Suggestions on design are welcome.) The youth will be showing the world how much fun they are having with their horses and be ambassadors for our Youth association.
The future of our horses is with our youth.
Affiliate youth can participate too, by doing the same in their own areas. Ride your Missouri Fox Trotting horse in a parade as a member of the MFTHBYA and show other youth how special your horse is! If your horse is fun and you know it, show it!!
For the last 2 years our Missouri youth have been actively representing our youth in the FFA judging competitions through participation and in educating other youth to the qualities and versatility of our breed. This year we will be attending more of these functions.
Affiliate youth can also become involved to the benefit of the youth association and their own affiliate growth. Ask your FFA in your schools when projects involving horses will be taking place and become involved in these youth projects in your area. Show the FFA what a fox trotter looks like! Tell them about how much fun you can have with a fox trotter. Learn to identify the conformation of a good fox trotter and share it with other youth. Get 5 entries into these FFA events in your area and EDUCATE!!! Contact our office for the judging tape if necessary.
For now interested youth are encouraged to attend our MFTHBA judging seminars as an auditor. We have youth seminars on conformation and will have from time to time youth seminars on judging. Need help? We can show you how we did it in our Missouri FFA programs.
Other Projects That Need Your Help
The MFTHBYA Youth Calendar-The youth are putting together a Youth Calendar featuring our MFTHBYA youth (approved last October), to help support youth projects. You can help by sending digital photos of your youth enjoying their horses to foxtrot4me@aol.com or hard copy photos to Charlotte Blackwell, 273 High Point Lane, Niangua, MO 65713 if photos. As many pictures as possible will be used by the committee for the Youth Calendar, the MFTHBYA web page photo gallery, or for MFTHBYA promotion. Remember to support our youth by buying these calendars when they are made available!
Youth Coloring Books promoting the Missouri Fox Trotter to children are being experimented with by MFTHBYA members with proceeds going to the MFTHBYA for funding youth programs. Coloring book pictures are welcome.
All of the MFTHBYA programs including our scholarship program, our achievement programs, our contests (photo, writing, and art), and mileage programs help build confidence, riding skills, and communication skills.
Our youth seminars and activities educate our youth to varied aspects of horse care, training, judging, horsemanship, and showing.
Our youth recruitment programs and youth outreach programs show youth in other breeds the many ways our youth enjoy owning a Missouri Fox Trotter.
Ca$h awards help our youth enter college.
Ca$h awards are available to all students who earn them through our Achievement Program.
For Youth Program Information and Forms, Scheduled Events, and Announcements check out the MFTHBYA web page at www.mfthba.com/Youth/youth.htm or contact the Youth Committee today for more info on how you and your affiliate can participate.
